FOTD: MAC Industrial Eyes

I checked out MAC's Art Supplies collection the other day and picked up a few products from it, namely the Dirty Greasepaint stick and Industrial Pearlglide Eyeliner. I am not usually a fan of pencil liners, but absolutely love the colour and shimmer of Industrial so I opted to try out a FOTD using it as an all over lid colour to see how it looked and lasted. Light blue is not normally a colour I wear on my eyes, but Industrial is hardly your average light blue.

Industrial is described by MAC as a periwinkle grey, which is accurate (their colour descriptions aren't always). It's a silvery blue but there's actually a lot of purple to it as I look it swatched on my arm right now. I attempted to capture the purple sheen in photo but it didn't come through with flash so I took a photo outside). You can see a bit of the purple in the darker photo. I also used another blue MAC Pearlglide liner on this FOTD so I swatched them both together.

As you can see, with the flash the liner swatches look less solid as light picks up the shimmer and frost. But in lower light (as in the darker photo), the swatches look more solid. It's the same as in the shots of my eyes, below. The liner was more solid like an eyeshadow in real life.

MAC Pearlglide liners are impressively smudge-free. Once you've got it on, you don't have long to smudge it as it dries and barely budges. I decided to test this in wearing it all over my lids.

I did not apply it all the way up to my crease simply because I didn't know if it would last and besides, I have deep set creases so you can't tell with my eyes open anyway. I was also wary about wearing blue "eyeshadow" so I tried to keep the look toned down.

I smudged Industrial from my lash line up to almost my crease, blending a bit with a brush and my fingers. For a bit of depth, I smudged Fly-By-Blu into my lashline and blended slightly with an angle brush. I think the darker blue helps the Industrial not completely overpower my eye colour (which is a danger when you match your eyeshadow to your eye colour).

Here's the full face look.
